Pittsburgh Steelers have officially parted ways with wide receiver Tarik Black, a fan favorite, after a series of unfortunate injuries. Black, who had shown promise during training camp, was waived/injured by the team in August following a hamstring injury that occurred during one of the final sessions of camp.
Initially, Black was brought on by the Steelers to help fill the gap left by rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson, who suffered a high ankle sprain. However, just as Black was climbing the depth chart and vying for a spot on the roster or practice squad, his hamstring injury derailed his progress.
A former standout at Michigan, Black has had a rocky NFL journey, previously spending time with the Baltimore Ravens but failing to secure a significant role. Now, the Miami Dolphins have offered him a fresh opportunity, signing Black to their practice squad. His signing comes as Miami looks to bolster their wide receiver corps, with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa set to return after missing time due to a concussion.
The Steelers’ decision to move on from Black was tough for fans, as many had high hopes for the young receiver. However, the lingering injury concerns ultimately forced Pittsburgh’s hand, leaving Black to seek new opportunities in Miami.
