Analyst Expresses Firm Opinion on Browns’ Quarterback Situation Post Rams Game

The acquisition of Deshaun Watson was anticipated to resolve the Cleveland Browns’ quarterback challenges, marked by a substantial contract that set a new record for the largest guaranteed deal in league history. However, owing to Watson’s suspension last season and subsequent injuries this year, his availability has been less than optimal. Consequently, the Browns have explored other options at the quarterback position, utilizing four different players.

Deshaun Watson, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, P.J. Walker, and Joe Flacco have all taken the field for the Browns, each experiencing varying degrees of success. Amid the uncertainty among Browns fans regarding their preferred starting quarterback, Tony Rizzo unequivocally voiced his support for Flacco during a recent ESPN Cleveland radio segment.

Rizzo asserted, “Looking ahead, I don’t see how you could not go with Flacco.” Examining the statistics alone, Flacco emerges as the pragmatic choice. In the Browns’ recent defeat against the Los Angeles Rams, Flacco amassed 254 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception—a commendable performance for a player who hadn’t seen NFL action since the New York Jets’ season finale in 2022.

In contrast, Dorian Thompson-Robinson’s numbers from the preceding week showcased only 134 passing yards and a touchdown against the Denver Broncos. Flacco’s extensive career experience positions him as a reliable leader for the Browns, offering a competitive edge moving forward. Rizzo contends that the team should have an uncomplicated decision for the remainder of the year, particularly if Flacco maintains good health.

The ultimate choice lies in the hands of the organization, and only time will reveal their decision.
