Breaking News: Phillies Urged to Trade Slumping Bohm for $9.4M All-Star

Alec Bohm Out? It Seems Like The Phillies Want To Trade Him

The Philadelphia Phillies are off to a disappointing start in 2026, sitting at 8-10 and fourth in the NL East, struggling to put together any kind of winning momentum with several hitters in a funk.

Third baseman Alec Bohm is among the biggest culprits, and some analysts think a change is overdue. Sports Illustrated’s Patrick McAvoy has suggested the Phillies pursue Houston Astros infielder Isaac Paredes as an upgrade, outlining a potential deal:

Phillies receive: Isaac Paredes Astros receive: Taijuan Walker, outfield prospect Dante Nori, and pitching prospect Wen-Hui Pan

McAvoy’s reasoning is that Paredes could slot in across the infield or serve as a designated hitter while both Bohm and Bryson Stott continue to underperform. Houston, meanwhile, is desperate for pitching and could use a left-handed bat in the outfield making the pieces a reasonable fit on both sides.

Paredes is currently coming off the bench and his numbers show it, but his track record speaks for itself. Before Carlos Correa’s return pushed him to a part-time role, he put together a strong 2025 campaign, clubbing 20 home runs and driving in 53 runs across 102 games. Even his reduced current output still compares favorably to Bohm’s. With two years of team control remaining, he’d give Philadelphia a dependable bat at a reasonable cost — and the Phillies would be wise to get a conversation started with Houston sooner rather than later.
