The Phillies have struggled mightily in 2026, sitting at 8-13 and fourth in the NL East after largely returning the same roster from the previous year a bet that hasn’t paid off.
With that in mind, the team could shift into sell mode at the trade deadline as they look to rebuild for 2027. FanSided’s Christopher Kline identifies outfielder Adolis Garcia acquired this past offseason on a one-year deal as one of the more likely trade candidates. Kline notes that while Phillies fans have largely embraced Garcia for his improved plate discipline and defensive upgrade over Nick Castellanos in right field, the team might move him to a contending club looking for outfield help, opening the door for a prospect call-up like Gabriel Rincones or a bigger role for Felix Reyes in the back half of the season.
On the field, Garcia is hitting .205/.306/.342 with a .648 OPS, four doubles, two home runs, and five RBI across 21 games. His Gold Glove-caliber defense in left field would likely drive up his trade value considerably.
