Breaking: Twins Set to Move Top Prospect to St. Paul; Brooks Lee Impresses in Camp…

Brooks Lee, the Twins’ top infield prospect, had an impressive showing during the team’s six-week camp, according to Twins manager Rocco Baldelli. Despite this, Lee will begin the season in the minor leagues. Drafted eighth overall in 2022, the 23-year-old switch hitter showcased his skills with 12 hits in 36 at-bats, including five doubles, a triple, and a home run, with only five strikeouts during Grapefruit League play.

Baldelli praised Lee’s performance, stating that he had a “great camp” and demonstrated his abilities both offensively and defensively, showing versatility on the field. However, Lee’s departure from Thursday’s game due to a back spasm could potentially land him on the St. Paul Saints’ injured list at the start of the season.

Rated as a top-100 prospect, Lee provides the Twins with depth in the minor league infield. Despite being blocked from the major league infield, Baldelli expressed confidence in Lee’s abilities and expects him to make his debut this summer.

The Twins had a rainout on Friday, canceling two scheduled games. This disrupted plans to give pitcher Pablo López an extra day off before his Opening Day start. Instead, he will face the Worcester Red Sox, Boston’s Class AAA affiliate, weather permitting.

As the Twins prepare to move north, players are packing up their belongings. The partnership with St. Paul as the Class AAA affiliate allows the Twins more time to finalize roster decisions. Most players will likely know their starting assignments by the weekend, as the team readies for the upcoming season.
