Breaking: White Sox Announce Pitching Lineup and Roster Changes for Opening Series…

The White Sox have announced their pitching lineup for the opening series of the 2024 season against the Detroit Tigers.

Garrett Crochet will start on opening day, with Michael Soroka and Erick Fedde following in the subsequent games. Crochet’s selection was somewhat unexpected but justified by his strong performance in spring training and his familiarity to White Sox fans.

Soroka’s impressive spring stats earned him the second-game spot over Fedde, despite Fedde having a higher salary. The final rotation spots are uncertain but may go to Chris Flexen and Nick Nastrini.

In terms of roster cuts, catcher Korey Lee was sent to AAA Charlotte, while relievers Joe Barlow and Corey Knebel were optioned to minor-league camp, leaving the White Sox with 45 players in the big league camp. Lee, acquired in a trade last season, showed promise in spring training but faces competition from veteran catchers Martín Maldonado and Max Stassi. Barlow and Knebel faced injury setbacks during spring training, possibly affecting their future with the team.

As spring training progresses, more roster cuts are expected, leading to a clearer picture of the opening day roster.
