So we’re just stepping back a bit with it.” This development means Marner will not join the team for the upcoming two-game road trip.
Marner sustained the injury on March 7 and has since been sidelined. General Manager Brad Treliving provided some reassurance, suggesting it’s likely a minor injury but emphasizing the need to treat it with respect. However, Keefe’s remarks hint at a slight discrepancy in the messaging between him and Treliving.
Keefe described Marner’s status as “day-to-day from being day-to-day,” indicating a setback in his recovery. Consequently, the Maple Leafs are opting for caution rather than rushing his return.
Former player Nick Kypreos expressed concern, advising Leafs fans to be worried. He highlighted Marner’s absence from team practice and questioned the wisdom of rushing his return. Despite a slim chance of Marner playing against Edmonton on Saturday, the team is prioritizing his long-term health and recovery.
