The Carolina Panthers made adjustments to Shaq Thompson’s contract, creating more flexibility in their salary cap.
During the 2023 home opener, Thompson sustained a leg injury and was sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a fractured fibula. Speculation arose regarding his future with the team.

However, recently, Thompson and the Panthers reached an agreement on a revised contract, reducing his compensation to $3.1 million and freeing up approximately $3 million in cap space.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Media broke the news. Thompson, now in his tenth season with the Panthers since being drafted 25th overall in 2015, has an impressive career stats sheet, boasting 717 tackles, 52 tackles for loss, 31 QB hits, 26 passes defended, 12 sacks, and three interceptions.
