Breaking: Former Twins Outfielder Michael A. Taylor Finally Agreed on a Year Contract …

Former Minnesota Twins outfielder Mchael A. Taylor has reportedly agreed to a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates worth $4 million, as per ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Taylor, 32, joined the Twins in 2023 after being traded from the Kansas City Royals. Initially brought in as insurance for center fielder Byron Buxton, who has a history of injuries, Taylor became a regular starter, appearing in 129 games while Buxton mostly served as a designated hitter due to injuries.

During his time with the Twins, Taylor posted a batting average of .220 with 51 RBIs and 21 home runs. Throughout his 10-year MLB career, he has maintained a batting average of .239 with 332 RBIs and 95 home runs. While his batting performance has been inconsistent, Taylor is highly regarded for his defensive skills, winning a Gold Glove Award in 2021.

With the Twins anticipating Buxton’s return to center field, they opted not to re-sign Taylor, leaving them without the reliable backup they had in him last season in case Buxton faces further injuries.
