Bears GM Ryan Poles expresses enthusiasm about the possibility of cornerback Jaylon Johnson remaining in Chicago for another four years with a $76 million deal. The Chicago Bears, aiming for a playoff season, have undergone significant changes with two top 10 overall drafts and several seasoned players gearing up for a more prominent role.
Among these players, Jaylon Johnson stands out, having secured a lucrative four-year contract worth $76 million, including a guaranteed $54 million. General Manager Ryan Poles conveyed his excitement, stating, ‘We’re thrilled to have Jaylon with us for the next four years. He plays a crucial role in our defense, and his leadership will contribute to our team’s continued ascent.’
Selected in the second round of the 2020 draft, Johnson has been a consistent presence for the Bears, starting all 53 games and amassing 161 tackles, five interceptions, and 41 pass breakups. Recently designated as the Chicago tag player, he capped off an outstanding season with his inaugural Pro Bowl appearance and a Second Team All-Pro recognition.”
