Updates: Portsmouth Manager Finally Breaks Silence After Winning EFL Manager of the Month Award as Pompey Extends League One Dominance…

John Mousinho has been honored as the Manager of the Month for February in Sky Bet League One, as Portsmouth (Pompey) experienced a successful run of results, further solidifying their lead at the top of the table. The notable victories against Northampton, Carlisle, Cambridge, and Reading, along with a draw at Charlton, contributed to this achievement.

Expressing his gratitude, Mousinho emphasized the collective effort of the staff and players, highlighting the significance of achieving success on the pitch over individual awards. He commended the supporters for their unwavering backing, particularly acknowledging those who showed strong support during away games at Carlisle and Charlton.

Danny Wilson, leading the judging panel, recognized the challenge of maintaining a top position in any league and praised Mousinho’s Pompey side for their consistent standards, remaining unbeaten in February and accumulating both points and goals.

Sky Sports’ EFL pundit, Don Goodman, hailed Mousinho as one of the managerial success stories of the season, noting the near-perfect month that extended Pompey’s lead in League One. He highlighted the fans’ excitement for a potential return to the Championship after an impressive start to March.

Mousinho faced tough competition from other managers, including Neill Collins of Barnsley, Michael Skubala of Lincoln, and Richie Wellens of Leyton Orient, ultimately securing the Manager of the Month prize.

In addition to Mousinho’s recognition, Pompey forward Paddy Lane was nominated for the Sky Bet League One Player of the Month award but lost out to Barnsley’s Adam Phillips.
