Breaking: Markstrom and Other Keys Players that Pulled an Outstanding Performance as Flames Secure Third Straight Victory with 5-3 Win Over Devils…

Markstrom’s stellar performance with 37 saves propelled the Calgary Flames to a 5-3 victory over the New Jersey Devils, marking their third consecutive win.

In this Thursday night matchup, Jacob Markstrom showcased his goaltending prowess, while Connor Zary and Andrew Mangiapane contributed with a goal and an assist each.

Calgary’s offensive display included goals from Mikael Backlund, Kevin Rooney, Andrei Kuzmenko, and another from Mangiapane. Noah Hanifan, the defenseman, played a pivotal role with two assists.

This triumph followed a recent 4-1 victory against Boston, initiating a successful four-game road trip for the Flames, including contests against the three teams in the New York/New Jersey area.

New Jersey’s Ondrej Palat scored twice, accompanied by goals from Nico Hischier and three assists from Jesper Bratt. Palat’s first goal, initiated by a 2-on-1 break with Bratt, opened the scoring in the first period. Backlund equalized for the Flames before Zary, Rooney, and Kuzmenko extended the lead. Hischier’s short-handed breakaway narrowed the gap, but Kuzmenko and Palat’s second goal secured the Flames’ victory.

A notable return to the Devils’ lineup was Jack Hughes, who had missed 11 games due to an upper-body injury. Despite Hughes’ return and an impressive performance with four shots on goal, the Flames emerged victorious. Additionally, the game marked Flames forward Jonathan Huberdeau’s 800th career game, while former Devil Yegor Sharangovich played against New Jersey for the first time since being traded to Calgary in June.

The Devils had previously won the first meeting of the season with a 4-2 victory in Calgary on December 9.
