Kirk Cousins drew significant attention at the Gophers-Michigan State game, where he joined over 8,000 fans for the Big Ten clash on Tuesday night.
Despite being a Michigan State alum, Cousins found himself behind the Spartans bench, receiving a warm welcome from the Goldy Gopher mascot.
In a playful exchange, the mascot gifted him a Minnesota jersey, which Cousins amusingly attempted to decline.
The second half of the game saw Cousins witnessing his alma mater, the Spartans, succumb to the Gophers with a final score of 59-56. The Gophers managed to limit Michigan State to just 11 points in the last 13:16 of the match.

The question arises as to why Cousins was in Minnesota for the game. Being the quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings and residing in Rosemount provides a straightforward answer.
However, it’s worth noting that just a week and a half prior, Cousins was in his home state of Michigan, undergoing rehabilitation for his surgically-repaired Achilles tendon.
As the March 13 deadline approaches, Cousins is entering a crucial period, facing the possibility of becoming a free agent if he doesn’t renew his contract with the Vikings.

While discussions are anticipated to commence in March, Cousins emphasized that there is little significance to his attendance at a game involving his alma mater and the primary college team in his current state of residence.
Despite occupying a prominent front-row seat at Tuesday’s game, Cousins exhibited a more approachable demeanor in October when he joined fans along the third base line for the Twins-Blue Jays matchup, witnessing the Twins’ first playoff victory in 19 years.
