Breaking: Seahawks’ Bobby Wagner Breaks Silence on 2024 Free Agency Decision Amidst Pete Carrol Sudden Departure…

Bobby Wagner has unveiled his 2024 free agency plans following the sudden departure of Pete Carroll from the Seattle Seahawks, with Mike Macdonald taking over as the new head coach. Despite the coaching change, Wagner asserts that he still holds the ultimate decision-making power regarding his free agency destination.

Addressing the matter during the Pro Bowl Games practice on Friday, Wagner told Grant Gordon of NFL.com, “No, it doesn’t affect anything.”

While Wagner has not yet determined his summer destination, his stellar performance in the 2023 season with the Seattle Seahawks ensures a plethora of potential suitors. Wagner had an outstanding season, registering a league-high 183 tackles (96 solo and 87 assisted) and 3.5 sacks, earning him a ninth Pro Bowl selection. Notably, the 33-year-old linebacker has consistently surpassed 100 tackles in each of his 12 NFL seasons and played the most defensive snaps (1,127) in 2023, according to Next Gen Stats.

After winning two NFC titles and a Super Bowl in his initial stint with the Seattle Seahawks, Wagner was released in 2022 and spent a season with the Los Angeles Rams before returning to Seattle.

Expressing high praise for the Seahawks’ new head coach, Mike Macdonald, Wagner highlighted Macdonald’s role in the Baltimore Ravens’ defensive success before joining Seattle. Wagner and Macdonald appear to be a promising duo for the upcoming season, should Wagner choose to stay with the Seahawks.

Wagner acknowledged the attractiveness of staying in Seattle but emphasized his awareness of the business aspect, stating, “Obviously, I want to be in Seattle, but I also know the business; I’ve been around a long time.”
