On Sunday, the Lions came into Levi’s Stadium as the underdogs, but they quickly gained control of the game. They started the scoring and went into halftime with a commanding 24-7 lead. But that’s also when everything started to go wrong.
A talented 49ers team came out fire in the second half. The offense led by Kyle Shanahan scored 27 points in a row to seize a late lead and surprise NFL fans all over the world.

This loss was extremely painful. For the majority of the contest, the Detroit Lions held the upper hand and were just a few points away from making their team’s first-ever Super Bowl trip.

“It’s what makes this sport so fantastic, but it also breaks you,” Campbell remarked at the news conference after the game.

A dubious choice to go for it on fourth down early in the second half appeared to swing the tide, with his team up 24-10. The Lions chose to attempt a field goal rather than settle for the simple three points when they were in position to make one. Any dreams of a late Detroit comeback were dashed when the 49ers scored 24 points after a botched fourth down conversion.

For Dan Campbell, this is just the beginning. Campbell has never held a head coaching job before, therefore many analysts questioned the organization’s hiring selection. But after just three years with the team, he has totally changed Detroit’s culture and the franchise itself.
In his debut season, Campbell had a 3-13-1 record, although he was given time to develop his squad. Detroit improved to 9-8 in 2022. The Lions had an outstanding 12-5 record at the end of this season. They celebrated their first postseason victory in thirty-two years and won their division for the first time since they joined the NFC Central in 1993.
