Titans’ Acquisition of Head Coach Spells Trouble for Jets’ Pursuit of Tee Higgins…

The New York Jets are expected to invest heavily in acquiring a wide receiver during the upcoming offseason, whether through a top draft pick or a high-priced free agent. Tee Higgins emerges as a standout target for the Jets, particularly with the possibility of him leaving the Cincinnati Bengals.

Having played second fiddle to the outstanding Ja’Marr Chase in Cincinnati, Higgins may seek a better opportunity or a more lucrative deal elsewhere. The Jets present an enticing offer, but a team in the AFC South appears to be a formidable competitor for Higgins.

The Tennessee Titans, under new head coach Brian Callahan, formerly the offensive coordinator for the Bengals, are positioned to make significant moves. Callahan is likely to focus on providing ample support to quarterback Will Levis, and Higgins fits seamlessly into a system where he has excelled before, bringing him back to his home state of Tennessee. The Titans possess the financial flexibility to offer Higgins a substantial contract, making them a strong contender. The Jets need to craft a compelling offer to surpass the allure of Tennessee.

While the Jets could provide Levis with an impressive No. 2 receiver or create a formidable receiving duo with D-Hop (assuming retention), the Titans hold financial advantages, projecting to have the second-highest cap space in the league, according to Over The Cap. Despite potential wiggle room for the Jets, significant roster adjustments would be necessary to accommodate Higgins and maintain competitiveness.

Considering the likelihood of Davante Adams remaining with the Raiders, Higgins stands out as a potentially significant upgrade for the Jets. Although he might play a secondary role to Garrett Wilson, the prospect of playing alongside Aaron Rodgers in Tennessee could offer Higgins a higher volume of targets compared to Levis.

The Jets face the challenge of making a serious bid for Higgins while being aware that the Titans possess multiple appealing factors, making them a strong competitor in securing the talented wide receiver.
