New York Giants Set Sights on Titans’ Tony Dews for Running Back Coach Position

The New York Giants are reportedly eyeing a second assistant coach from Mike Vrabel’s former staff with the Tennessee Titans. They have received permission to interview Tony Dews, a Tennessee assistant coach, for the vacant running backs coach position. This move comes after the Giants interviewed Shane Bowen, the Titans’ defensive coordinator, as a potential replacement for Wink Martindale.

Tony Dews, 50, boasts an intriguing coaching background. He has been with the Titans since 2018, initially coaching running backs until the 2022 season, and last season, he transitioned to coaching tight ends. Dews’ coaching journey began in college in 1998, and over the years, he has coached on offense, defense, and special teams, with the exception of quarterbacks.

In their pursuit of filling coaching vacancies, the Giants have also interviewed Joel Thomas, the New Orleans Saints’ running backs coach. The need for a running backs coach arose when Jeff Nixon, previously in that role, accepted the offensive coordinator position at Syracuse University. The Giants are actively shaping their coaching staff after parting ways with several assistants, and for more updates, you can follow the New York Giants coaching tracker.
