The Cincinnati Enquirer reported on Thursday that Bill Belichick concluded his illustrious 24-season stint with the New England Patriots, encompassing six Super Bowl victories.
During this remarkable tenure, the 71-year-old head coach accumulated a total of 296 wins with the Patriots, standing as the second-highest count for any head coach with a single team in NFL history. However, his legacy in Cincinnati is perhaps best encapsulated by a 2014 interview.
Following a disappointing 41-14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, the Patriots were set to face the Cincinnati Bengals next. In the post-game press conference, Belichick responded to inquiries about the defeat by emphatically stating, “We’re on to Cincinnati” five times. This repetitive phrase conveyed Belichick’s focus on moving forward from the loss and concentrating on the upcoming game against the Bengals.
Throughout the press conference, he mentioned Cincinnati a total of 15 times, underscoring the team’s need to shift their attention and mindset.
