While not entirely surprising given Buggs’ limited usage in 2023, it still comes as a significant shock, especially considering the elevated status he held with the team at the beginning of the year, having signed a two-year contract in March.
However, it was anticipated that the Lions would face challenging roster choices as they approach the playoffs. The return of C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Alim McNeill, and possibly James Houston from injured reserve meant tough decisions were looming. Buggs seems to be the first casualty of these impending roster adjustments.
