Justin Jefferson is advocating for Kirk Cousins’ return in 2024 amid the Minnesota Vikings’ quarterback challenges.
Jefferson, the star receiver, expressed his discontent with life without Cousins, especially as the team has faced difficulties and lost four of their past five games, causing them to fall out of playoff contention.
Cousins suffered a torn Achilles in Week 8 against Green Bay, leading to a quarterback rotation that included rookie Jaren Hall, the Josh Dobbs experience, and currently, Nick Mullens. Jefferson emphasized the absence of Cousins’ leadership, knowledge of the game, and awareness, highlighting the void created by not having him on the field.
Before Cousins’ injury, the Vikings were performing well, and Next Gen Stats suggest they would have had a better than 30% chance of making the playoffs if he had remained healthy.
Jefferson credited Cousins for playing some of the best football of his career before the setback, achieving success even when Jefferson was absent. The receiver acknowledged the toughness of the league and emphasized the challenges of playing without Cousins.
As Cousins approaches free agency, questions arise about the Vikings’ plans for their quarterback. Jefferson openly supports Cousins, praising his on-field performance and suggesting that the front office is already aware of his stance.
