BREAKING: Scott Boras fires back at Steve Cohen after Mets owner ripped super agent…

The ongoing tension between New York Mets owner Steve Cohen and super-agent Scott Boras reached new heights, as Boras publicly responded to Cohen’s recent criticism of his negotiation tactics. The spat centers around the stalled contract talks involving Mets star first baseman Pete Alonso, whom Boras represents.

Earlier this week, Cohen expressed his frustrations during a fan event, stating, “We made a significant offer to Pete, but I don’t like the structures that Scott [Boras] is proposing. This has been exhausting.” Cohen’s remarks highlighted the contentious nature of the negotiations, with the Mets reportedly offering a deal in the range of $70 million over three years, which Alonso’s camp declined.

In response, Boras fired back with a pointed statement: “Negotiating is about finding common ground, not making unilateral declarations. My priority is ensuring my clients receive fair value for their contributions. Pete Alonso is one of the premier power hitters in baseball, and we will continue to advocate for him accordingly.”

The back-and-forth has only added fuel to speculation about Alonso’s future with the Mets. While Cohen and the Mets appear eager to retain their star slugger, Boras’s history of securing top-dollar deals for his clients suggests the process could drag on further.

Alonso, who has been a cornerstone for the Mets since debuting in 2019, is entering a pivotal offseason. With other teams reportedly monitoring the situation closely, including the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Angels, the stakes are high for both Alonso and the Mets.

Despite the public sparring, Cohen reiterated his commitment to building a championship-caliber team, even if Alonso’s future remains uncertain. “We’re prepared for any outcome,” Cohen said. “But we’ll do what’s best for the long-term success of the franchise.”

As the offseason drama unfolds, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see if the Mets and Boras can bridge the gap and secure Alonso’s place in Queens for years to come.
