Mousinho’s Christmas Gift…

Mousinho’s Christmas Gesture…

The manager plans to grant players quality time with family before the upcoming Bristol Rovers clash.

While football elsewhere pauses for Christmas, the English schedule intensifies. After the recent draw against Fleetwood, Pompey is set to face Bristol Rovers and Exeter before the close of 2023, followed by hosting Stevenage on New Year’s Day.

Despite the busy fixture list, John Mousinho, at the helm of the table-topping team, is allowing his players a break to celebrate the festive season with their families. Trusting in their professionalism, he expects them to be adequately prepared for the match at the Memorial Stadium on Boxing Day.

Mousinho explained, “We convened on Christmas Eve instead of the following morning, with plans to travel to Bristol later in the evening. I’ve experienced various schedules as a player, and there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Our match preparation will be completed, and the players will have a program for Christmas Day. Our aim is to do what’s in their best interest. I have confidence in their commitment and hope they enjoy the time with their families before our journey.”

Reflecting on the earlier season encounter with Bristol Rovers, where Pompey secured a draw with a late goal at Fratton Park, Mousinho anticipates witnessing the team’s growth and improvements. Acknowledging the challenge posed by Bristol Rovers, he emphasized the importance of being at their best. With the Boxing Day match approaching, Mousinho added, “It’s an exciting time for football, and I’m sure everyone is looking forward to enjoying their Christmas dinners before heading to the match on the 26th.”
