Tom Piatak Reveals ‘Substantial’ Plans Amid Ambitious Stadium Upgrades…

CLUB: Significant alterations are on the horizon, particularly on the East side, as Tom Piatak discusses planned developments at Brunton Park.

Since completing the takeover, the Piatak family has engaged in discussions regarding potential transformations to Brunton Park stadium. Following initial changes aimed at improving the supporter experience during the Charlton Athletic game, the club’s Chairman has confirmed additional enhancements while respecting the ground’s heritage.

Expressing the desire for changes in the Warwick Road End, he stated, “We aim to revamp the Warwick Road End, including concessions and bathrooms. While we introduced portable facilities out of necessity, we also observed the historical significance of the Warwick Road End bathrooms. We intend to preserve a piece of that history while modernizing it for future generations.”

Adding his personal perspective on the Warwick Road End, he emphasized, “I’d like to amplify the sound from the Warwick Road End. The passionate fan base down there is incredible, but the sound tends to go up without projecting out. We’re exploring ways to amplify and project that unique sound.”

The Chairman emphasized that changes wouldn’t be limited to one side, with the East side set to undergo significant transformations. He explained, “The most substantial changes will occur on the East side. We plan to complete the infrastructure, including finishing the second floor with available offices. Additionally, we aim to develop training classrooms and finalize the boxes for lease to businesses, creating a vibrant hospitality area and freeing up space on the West side.”

Turning attention to the West side, he outlined plans for the ground floor, stating, “The West side’s ground floor will become the player’s area. Discussions with key figures, such as Paul, have already taken place to envision the future layout, including improved home and away dressing rooms. We recognize the need for enhancements in the referee’s room, showers, and overall atmosphere to create a top-notch facility for players on game day, resembling a League One or Championship standard.”

Highlighting the interconnected nature of the renovations, he concluded, “Major developments are planned for the East Stand, and once completed, we can shift focus to the West Stand. Our goal is to finalize the downstairs of the West Stand, ideally by next summer, contingent on progress with the East side renovations, a process we are actively engaged in with the guidance of an architect.”
