The Green Bay Packers secured a decisive victory against the Detroit Lions, seemingly boosted by a fabricated statement falsely attributed to Amon-Ra St. Brown. Before the game, a social media post circulated, claiming that St. Brown had remarked he couldn’t identify any players on the Packers’ defense. However, St. Brown never made such a comment.
Despite its inaccuracy, Packers’ defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery seemed to have been influenced by this fake quote. According to The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman, Montgomery referenced it while congratulating quarterback Jordan Love after the win, saying, “Ask 14 if he knows anybody on defense’s name now!”
This was a fake quote from St. Brown.
I was walking behind Jordan Love to his postgame presser and Packers DL coach Jerry Montgomery yelled at Love:
“Ask 14 if he knows anybody on defense’s name now!”
Love got a kick out of it.

This remark mirrors a similar comment made by DK Metcalf earlier in the season about the Los Angeles Rams. Despite the falsehood of the quote and its attribution, it appeared to have stirred some genuine motivation within the team.
