Philadelphia Phillies promotes 39 year-old to Bullpen Coach from IronPigs Pitching Coach…

The Philadelphia Phillies have made adjustments to their major league coaching staff after being eliminated from the postseason. One of these changes is the promotion of Cesár Ramos, who served as the pitching coach for the minor league team Lehigh Valley IronPigs, to the role of bullpen coach for the big league club. Ramos, aged 39, replaces the former bullpen coach, Dave Lundquist.

Ramos, a former MLB relief pitcher, has been part of the Phillies organization since 2017 when he ended his playing career with the IronPigs. During his time with the IronPigs, he made 40 appearances, including 11 starts, and achieved a 4.00 ERA with a 5-4 record, along with one save in 92 1/3 innings.

Originally drafted by the San Diego Padres as the 35th overall pick in the 2005 June Amateur Draft, Ramos had an eight-season career in the majors, playing for the Padres, Tampa Bay Rays, Los Angeles Angels, and Texas Rangers. Over the course of his MLB career, he recorded a 10-15 record, a 4.02 ERA, and a 1.40 WHIP in 346 2/3 innings.

His most notable season in the major leagues was in 2015 with the Los Angeles Angels when he pitched 52 1/3 innings across 65 appearances, finishing the season with a 2.75 ERA, a 1.34 WHIP, 43 strikeouts, and an impressive 0.6 fWAR.
