Whitcomb Struggles in Astros Loss, but Manager Espada Remains Confident

After the game, Houston manager Jose Espada commented, “I’ll have a conversation with (Whitcomb), but we’ll move on. He’s a reliable third baseman who has proven himself in the minor leagues.”

Whitcomb became the first major leaguer to record four errors in a single game since Marco Scutaro, who did so for the Oakland Athletics against the Seattle Mariners on July 6, 2007.

In total, Whitcomb has made five errors across 14 games (eight starts) at third base for the Astros. Offensively, he posted a .220 batting average with five RBIs over 20 games.

This season with Sugar Land, Whitcomb has been hitting .293 with 25 home runs and 91 RBIs in 108 games.
