Broncos Defense Shuts Down Mike Evans: Surtain Reflects on Key Matchup and Pass Rush Dominance

“Broncos Defense Shuts Down Mike Evans: Surtain Reflects on Key Matchup and Pass Rush Dominance”

Evans, now in his 11th NFL season, has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in each of his previous 10 seasons. However, in Sunday’s game, he was limited to just two receptions for 17 yards.

Reflecting on his matchup with Evans, Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II said, “It was something I was looking forward to all week. Mike is a great player, and his career speaks for itself. Going up against someone of his caliber is awesome. I had to focus on the details and make sure I limited his big plays down the field. I feel like I did my part, and as a defense, we executed just like we practiced all week.”

Surtain also credited the Broncos’ pass rush, which was a major factor in their success, as they sacked Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield seven times during the game.

“It’s a great feeling knowing the pass rush is getting pressure, making it harder for the quarterback to make quick reads,” Surtain said. “It makes our job in the secondary a lot easier and allows us to play more aggressively.”
