Breaking News: Cowboys GM Jerry Jones breaks silence on Why Deal for Veteran Running Back Derrick Henry Didn’t Materialize…

Cowboys General Manager Jerry Jones has finally broken his silence on why the team couldn’t secure veteran running back Derrick Henry.

Following a disappointing 28-25 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, Cowboys fans won’t be thrilled to hear Jones’ explanation for the missed opportunity.

The offseason moves made by Jones have raised concerns this season. After an impressive Week 1 victory, the Dallas Cowboys looked like a legitimate NFC contender. However, a crushing 44-19 defeat to the New Orleans Saints in Week 2, followed by today’s loss to the Ravens, has left fans frustrated with Jones’ decisions.

One particularly baffling offseason choice was not pursuing an elite running back to support quarterback Dak Prescott. Names like Josh Jacobs, Aaron Jones, Saquon Barkley, and Derrick Henry were all available, but the Cowboys opted against chasing after any of them.

Instead, Jones decided to re-sign former Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott, keep Rico Dowdle, and bring in veteran Dalvin Cook—who, like Elliott, is no longer in his prime.

Henry, on the other hand, signed with the Ravens and made an immediate impact. In their 28-25 win, Henry dominated the Cowboys’ defense, rushing for 151 yards, adding 23 receiving yards, and scoring two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys’ backfield of Elliott, Dowdle, and Deuce Vaughn combined for just 43 rushing yards, with Dowdle accounting for 32 of them.

After the game, reporters asked Jones why the Cowboys missed out on Henry. His response was simple: “We couldn’t afford him.”
