Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever’s standout player, recently broke her silence after a video of her commentating on a Milwaukee Brewers-Philadelphia Phillies baseball game went viral. The clip, shared on TikTok by her teammate Lexie Hull, captured Clark providing her own play-by-play while watching the game on TV. The lighthearted moment gained more attention than Clark had anticipated.
“I told Lex that sometimes I’ll just commentate on games,” Clark explained. “She said, ‘Alright, do it right now,’ and I didn’t even realize she was recording. It was all just for fun. I’ve been following the Phillies, so I know some of their players. It was pretty funny. I made some mistakes, but that’s a tough job! I was out of breath and exhausted after just a couple of minutes, so shoutout to all the real commentators. I needed a break!”
Clark went on to discuss the challenges of calling a baseball game, particularly due to the sport’s slower pace compared to basketball.
“In baseball, there’s a lot of downtime, so you have to come up with random things to talk about,” she said. “I was commenting on the players’ shoes and just throwing out random stuff. It’s definitely different from basketball.”
When asked if she’d consider a future in sports broadcasting, Clark remained uncertain but open to the idea.
“I’m not sure if commentating is in my future, but who knows? Maybe one day, for fun, someone will let me do it.”
The Philadelphia Phillies didn’t waste much time before responding to the viral video.

Phillies’ play-by-play announcer Tom McCarthy responded to Clark’s video through the team’s TikTok account, offering her and her boyfriend, Connor, a chance to visit the broadcast booth.
“Hey Caitlin, great job with the commentary,” McCarthy said. “You’ve got a future in this! Any time you have some downtime, you’re welcome to join us in the booth. Bring Connor, too.”
It seems Clark’s impromptu commentary has opened the door to a potential new adventure!
