Breaking News: Bruins’ Head Coach Jim Montgomery Announce the Signing of Another Veteran Goaltender as an Ideal Replacement for Jeremy Swayman …

Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery announce the signing of a veteran goaltender, viewing him as an ideal replacement for Jeremy Swayman. With Swayman’s contract situation still unresolved, the Bruins sought experienced goaltending depth. The new addition brings valuable professional experience and could serve as a strong backup option. Coach Montgomery emphasized the importance of having a reliable presence in the crease, ensuring the team remains competitive while awaiting Swayman’s potential return. This move strengthens the Bruins’ goaltending lineup and provides much-needed security for the upcoming season

On the opening day of on-ice training camp, the Boston Bruins announced the signing of goaltender Kasimir Kaskisuo to a Professional Tryout Agreement. Kaskisuo, who spent time with the Laval Rocket last season, posted a 7-4 record with a .909 save percentage and a 2.90 goals-against average across 13 games. The 30-year-old Finnish netminder has played in two NHL games and 108 AHL games throughout his career. His AHL experience includes time with the Toronto Marlies, Chicago Wolves, and Laval Rocket, where he achieved a 53-36-13 record, a 2.68 goals-against average, and a .909 save percentage.

Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 208 pounds, Kaskisuo also spent two seasons with Leksand IF in the Swedish Hockey League from 2021 to 2023. Before turning pro, he played for the University of Minnesota-Duluth, where he had an impressive 1.92 goals-against average in his second season. In the 2019-20 season, Kaskisuo was named to the American Hockey League All-Star team.

With Bruins All-Star goaltender Jeremy Swayman still unsigned, Kaskisuo’s signing adds valuable professional experience to the team’s goaltending depth. He could potentially back up Joonas Korpisalo in the NHL or provide stability in the AHL if young prospects Brandon Bussi or Michael DiPietro are called upon to fill in for Swayman. Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney expressed optimism that the team aims to sign Swayman before the December 1 deadline.
