Gil struggled with his control, using 24 pitches to get through the inning. He narrowly missed a pitch to Turner when Robles made a dash for home. Reacting quickly, Gil threw to catcher Austin Wells, who tagged Robles out just in time.

Seattle opted not to challenge the play, though manager Dan Wilson checked with home plate umpire Jeremy Rehak to see if Turner had called for time. The call stood, and Gil escaped the inning.

This marked the first time Robles had been caught stealing since joining the Mariners, having successfully stolen 25 bases before this attempt.
