The Texas Rangers announced their 2024 minor league award winners yesterday. The honorees are:

Tom Grieve Player of the Year**: Alejandro Osuna
Nolan Ryan Pitcher of the Year**: Alejandro Rosario
Reliever of the Year**: Bryan Magdaleno
Defender of the Year**: Cody Freeman
True Ranger Award**: Jax Biggers

Alejandro Osuna**, 22, is a left-handed hitting outfielder who split his season between high-A Hickory and AA Frisco. Over 461 plate appearances, he posted a .292/.362/.507 slash line, with 17 stolen bases in 23 attempts, primarily playing center field. Impressively, Osuna improved after his promotion to Frisco, hitting .306/.379/.523 in 265 plate appearances. Signed as an international free agent in October 2020, Osuna will be eligible for the Rule 5 Draft after next season.

Alejandro Rosario**, 22, is a right-handed pitcher drafted in the fifth round of the 2023 MLB Draft from the University of Miami. Making his pro debut this year, Rosario exceeded expectations, recording a 2.24 ERA over 88.1 innings between low-A and high-A. He struck out 129 batters, walked only 13, and gave up just two home runs. Rosario is already appearing on top 100 prospect lists and was the Rangers’ top pitching prospect before Kumar Rocker’s breakout.

Bryan Magdaleno**, 23, is a lefty reliever who entered 2024 with just five innings of full-season ball under his belt and a 7.13 ERA from the previous year. In 2024, Magdaleno had a breakout season, spending most of his time with Down East and also pitching at high-A Hickory and AA Frisco. He recorded a 1.27 ERA over 42.2 innings in 36 appearances, striking out 68 of the 168 batters he faced. His dominance was particularly evident in his final 20 appearances, where opposing hitters managed only a .040/.161/.040 slash line. Rule 5 eligible this offseason, he may earn a spot on the Rangers’ 40-man roster.

Cody Freeman**, 23, is a right-handed infielder who primarily played third base in 2024 after previously splitting his time between infield and catching duties. Spending the entire season with AA Frisco, Freeman hit .264/.321/.432 across 123 games. A 4th-round pick in the 2019 draft, Freeman is Rule 5 eligible for the second time this offseason.

Jax Biggers**, 27, appeared in 117 games for Triple-A Round Rock in 2024, playing multiple infield positions. A versatile infielder and an 8th-round pick in 2018 from the University of Arkansas, Biggers hit .271/.389/.381 for Round Rock. He will become a free agent at the end of the season.
