Ranked as the #17 linebacker in the 2025 class and the #23 overall recruit in Florida, Melendez’s decision to join the Tigers is a major win for the program.

Originally committed to the Miami Hurricanes in December 2023, Melendez had been a key target for Auburn throughout the year. One of the biggest influences in Melendez’s decision was the strong relationship he developed with Auburn’s defensive coordinator, DJ Durkin.

“It feels like family here, and I wanted to play in the SEC,” Melendez said, according to Auburn Rivals. “I feel like Auburn is the best place for me to develop and make it to the NFL, especially with Coach Durkin.”

Melendez was also impressed by Hank Brown’s debut performance and Auburn’s win over New Mexico at Jordan-Hare Stadium. When asked about the possibility of visiting other schools, Melendez firmly stated that his recruitment is officially over.
