Israeli Airstrikes Hit Gaza School, Homes; West Bank Raids Escalate Amid Ongoing Conflict

Israeli airstrikes across Gaza overnight and into Wednesday struck a UN school sheltering displaced Palestinian families, as well as two residential homes, resulting in the deaths of at least 34 people, including 19 women and children, according to hospital officials.

The war in Gaza has now entered its 11th month, with tens of thousands of casualties, and repeated international efforts to broker a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas have faltered as both sides accuse each other of making unreasonable and additional demands.

In the occupied West Bank, Israeli forces conducted raids in several towns, supported by airstrikes, as part of an ongoing military crackdown. While Israel claims these operations target militants, they have also devastated neighborhoods and led to civilian casualties.

One airstrike killed five people the military identified as militants threatening their forces. Another strike targeted a vehicle, killing at least three people, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

In a separate incident, an attacker rammed a fuel truck into a bus stop near the Israeli settlement of Givat Assaf, killing an Israeli soldier. The military reported that soldiers and an armed civilian “neutralized” the attacker.
