Las Vegas, NV – New Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce experienced his first taste of NFL head coaching on the sidelines against the Minnesota Vikings. Despite a strong first half that saw the Raiders hold a 20-7 lead, they ultimately fell short, losing 24-23.
A key moment in the game came in the fourth quarter when Pierce used his timeouts to regroup his team. However, this decision backfired as it allowed the Vikings more time to mount their comeback.
Reflecting on the game, Pierce acknowledged the mistake. “Lesson learned,” he stated in an interview with Vegas Sports Today. While disappointed with the outcome, Pierce emphasized the importance of preseason as a learning experience.
The Raiders’ performance, particularly in the first half, offered plenty of positives for Pierce and his coaching staff. The focus now shifts to building on those strengths and addressing the areas where improvement is needed as they prepare for the regular season.
