Antonio Pierce Confirms The Signing Of A 25 Year Old Star To Replace Micheal Gallup…

The Las Vegas Raiders have struggled to fill the void left by Michael Gallup’s abrupt retirement just before training camp. Keelan Doss was brought in but hasn’t made a significant impact in practice.

Turning to free agency once more, the Raiders announced on August 6 that they have signed wide receiver Dax Milne. The former BYU standout was a seventh-round pick by the Washington Commanders in 2021, where he established himself as a kick/punt returner. Milne missed all of last season due to a groin injury and was recently released by Washington.

Milne’s potential as a receiver is still uncertain. In his two seasons, he has 15 catches for 120 yards. With the NFL’s new kickoff rules this season, special teams play will be crucial, and Milne’s best chance of making the roster lies in his special teams expertise.

However, Milne could still have some receiver potential. In his final year at BYU, he caught 70 passes for 1,188 yards. The Raiders have an opening at WR4, and if Milne performs well in the preseason, he could secure a roster spot and a role in the offense.

Las Vegas Raiders Waive Tomari Fox

To make room for Milne, the Raiders waived rookie defensive tackle Tomari Fox with a waived/injured designation. If he clears waivers, he will be moved to the Raiders’ Reserve/Injured list.

Fox, an undrafted free agent from North Carolina, hasn’t made much of an impact in training camp. Given the Raiders’ deep defensive line, Fox faced a tough challenge to make the roster. However, he might have the opportunity to develop this year and aim for a roster spot next season.

Davante Adams Missing Practice for Family Reasons

Star wide receiver Davante Adams has missed a week’s worth of practice, but fortunately, it’s not due to an injury. Adams is awaiting the birth of his child. Head coach Antonio Pierce expects Adams to return once the baby arrives and is staying patient.

“Whenever the baby comes, I expect him to come back,” Pierce said during his August 5 press conference. “I’m not going to rush the baby. I’m not a doctor.”

While it’s not ideal for a team captain and key player to miss practice, especially before the first preseason game, Adams’ absence is understandable. The timing is fortunate as this did not occur during the regular season, which could have caused complications. Adams is a hardworking veteran who is familiar with the offense, having worked with offensive coordinator Luke Getsy for years in Green Bay. If anyone can afford to miss practice time, it’s Adams.
