Throughout the offseason, Penn State fans have debated which game should be designated as the White Out. The announcement clarifies the theme for the 2024 season, with the Washington game being chosen.
The kickoff time for the White Out Game has not been announced, but Penn State is hoping for a primetime slot on NBC. This scheduling choice was influenced by the potential early kickoff for the Ohio State game, which could limit fan preparations for the White Out.
In previous years, Fox’s scheduling of major Big Ten games for early kickoffs has frustrated fans. The White Out, known for its electric atmosphere, is best suited for a primetime slot. Last year, Penn State scheduled the Stripe Out for the late-season game against Michigan and reserved the White Out for an early-season blowout win over Iowa. This year, the Stripe Out is scheduled for the Ohio State game.
Penn State holds an 11-8 record in White Out games, including a 31-0 victory over Iowa last season. The team has won the last four White Out games, facing opponents such as Iowa, Minnesota, Auburn, and Michigan. The last White Out against Ohio State was in 2018, ending in a narrow 27-26 loss.
