The Tampa Bay Rays have designated veteran right-hander Chris Devenski for assignment and called up Edwin Uceta from Triple-A Durham. Devenski, 33, struggled with a 6.75 ERA in 19 relief appearances this season. Over his nine-year MLB career, which includes five seasons with the Houston Astros, he has a 27-22 record and a 3.98 ERA in 303 games, including seven starts.
Uceta, 26, returns to the Rays after not allowing a run in four innings over two relief appearances earlier this season. In his four major league seasons, Uceta has a 0-3 record and a 5.28 ERA in 27 appearances, including one start.
