Sheffield Wednesday manager, Danny Röhl, has commented on the controversial moment during their match against Watford, where a penalty decision was overturned.
Röhl’s team faced Watford, with this being his first game in charge since his recent appointment during the international break. Unfortunately, Sheffield Wednesday suffered a 1-0 defeat, with Yaser Asprilla scoring an 82nd-minute goal.
In the second half, the referee initially awarded Sheffield Wednesday a penalty when Anthony Musaba appeared to be tripped by Jamal Lewis inside the box. However, the linesman overturned the decision.
Röhl shared his thoughts on the incident, stating that he had not yet reviewed the video clip and that when the referee calls it a penalty, he considers it as such.
He expressed his disappointment, emphasizing that the penalty could have provided a crucial opportunity to take the lead and potentially change the course of the game.
Röhl had a feeling that his team could secure a positive result, but the loss was indeed disheartening. He remains optimistic about the future, believing that if they continue to play like they did in this match, they will earn points in upcoming fixtures.
This unfortunate incident marked Röhl’s debut as Sheffield Wednesday’s manager, and he will now have to wait for his first points in charge. Their next opportunity to do so will be an away game against Plymouth Argyle on Wednesday evening.
