Angel Reese and Coach Kim Mulkey Reunite During WNBA Game
Kim Mulkey, who coached Angel Reese during her last two seasons at LSU, shared a heartfelt reunion with her former player during Reese’s impressive rookie season with the Chicago Sky.
The touching moment occurred during a game between the Chicago Sky and Washington Mystics on Thursday, June 6. Reese, 22, was greeted courtside by Mulkey, where they exchanged smiles and hugs.
The WNBA highlighted the reunion on X (formerly known as Twitter) with the caption, “What a homecoming for Angel Reese, embraced by her former coach Kim Mulkey and surrounded by love, including her family, after the game against the Mystics.” The post also noted Reese’s game stats: “16PTS, 11REB, 3AST, 5STL.”
Reese has often mentioned the strong bond she shares with Mulkey, attributing it to their fiery personalities and competitive spirits. Reflecting on a December 2023 incident when Mulkey was ejected from a game and Reese had to hold her back, Reese remarked, “Coach Mulkey and I share similar personalities and a desire to win at all costs. She always fights for us, and we fight for her.”
Kim Mulkey, now the highest-paid women’s college basketball coach, signed a record-breaking 10-year, $32 million contract last September. Mulkey’s illustrious coaching career includes leading teams to four national championships: three with Baylor and her fourth with LSU in April 2023, when her team triumphed over Iowa in the championship game.
