New York Giants Acquire Former First-Round Wide Receiver from Titans in Trade Proposal

The New York Giants are striving to give Daniel Jones every chance to justify his significant contract extension from last offseason. Through the 2024 NFL Draft, they provided Jones with dynamic wide receiver Malik Nabers. Now, a new trade proposal from Alex Ballentine at Bleacher Report suggests another addition to the receiving corps.

Giants Strengthen Wide Receiver Lineup with Malik Nabers

The Giants’ receiver group currently includes Nabers, Darius Slayton, Wan’Dale Robinson, and Allen Robinson. Despite these additions, there’s uncertainty around tight end Darren Waller’s potential retirement before the season starts. Additionally, the team lost explosive running back Saquon Barkley in free agency.

Proposed Trade with the Titans for Treylon Burks

Ballentine proposes the Giants trade with the Tennessee Titans for former first-round pick Treylon Burks. With the Titans adding Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd to join DeAndre Hopkins, Burks might be more expendable in Tennessee:

“Moving to a team like the New York Giants, who are still sorting out their receiving corps, could be beneficial. While moving from Levis to Jones might seem like a downgrade, the Giants face many uncertainties at wide receiver.

Rookie Malik Nabers is expected to be the primary receiver, with Darius Slayton as the second option, though he’s currently absent from OTAs due to contract negotiations.

The Giants are banking on several young receivers to make significant impacts this season. Adding Burks would introduce another player with potential into the mix. At 6’2″, 225 pounds, Burks is considerably larger than Wan’Dale Robinson (5’8″, 185) and Jalin Hyatt (6’0″, 185).

While Burks would still need to compete for playing time, the competition might be less intense in New York.”

Ballentine’s Trade Proposal

Giants receive: Treylon Burks
Titans receive: 2025 sixth-round pick

A Day 3 pick is a modest price for the Giants to pay for a player with significant potential. The Titans would get some compensation for a player who has yet to meet expectations. Burks could find more playing time with the Giants, providing Jones with another talented target. Burks’ best season was as a rookie in 2022, with 33 receptions for 665 yards and one touchdown. It’s important to note that the Titans have struggled with their quarterback situation during his tenure.

However, the Giants’ current quarterback situation might not be a substantial upgrade for Burks compared to what he experienced with the Titans.
