New York Giants QB Daniel Jones Participates in 7-on-7 Drills as OTAs Begin…

Daniel Jones marked a significant milestone in his recovery from ACL surgery on Monday by participating in 7-on-7 drills. This event underscores his efforts to secure his role as the starting quarterback for the New York Giants.

Jones, who had surgery to repair a torn ACL from an injury in Week 9 of the 2023 NFL season, joined the Giants for their first of ten on-field practices as part of Phase 3 of the offseason program, known as OTAs. The team’s official website reported his participation.

During the practice, Jones completed passes to wide receivers Wan’Dale Robinson and first-round pick Malik Nabers, although he did not take part in the 11-on-11 drills.

Throughout the offseason, the Giants have consistently indicated that Jones is on track to be ready for the season opener. In April, Jones expressed optimism about his progress, stating, “The plan is to be ready to go by training camp. That’s when I’m shooting for and feel good about being ready.”

Initially, the signing of Drew Lock suggested that Lock might get the majority of reps before training camp. Recently, speculation has grown that Lock could challenge Jones for playing time in 2024. However, Monday’s practice highlighted Jones’s determination to retain his starting position.

**Remaining Practices:**
– May 21, May 23, May 28-29, May 31, June 3-4, June 6-7
– Mandatory minicamp: June 11-13
