Minnesota Twins change Friday start anticipating traffic from Timberwolves fans

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) – Following the Timberwolves’ exciting win over the Denver Nuggets, which propelled them into the Western Conference Finals, the Minnesota Twins are adjusting their schedule to accommodate the surge in local sports enthusiasm.

On Monday, the Minnesota Twins announced that their upcoming home game against the Texas Rangers at Target Field will start at 6:10 p.m., an hour earlier than the originally planned 7:10 p.m. The gates of Target Field will open at 4:30 p.m.

The decision to move up the game’s start time is to better manage the anticipated traffic increase in downtown Minneapolis. This adjustment is in response to the Timberwolves’ playoff game against the Dallas Mavericks, which will take place at Target Center.

The Timberwolves-Mavericks series kicks off on Wednesday, marking the Timberwolves’ first appearance at this playoff stage since 2004. The team has yet to reach an NBA Finals.

Tickets for the Timberwolves’ playoff games went on sale Monday and quickly sold out for Games 1, 2, and the potential Game 5 at Target Center.

In addition to the adjusted start time, the Twins are hosting a Star Wars Night at Target Field. The first 5,000 fans to arrive will receive a reversible Star Wars/Twins “Light or Dark Side” bucket hat.
