Breaking:: Dolphins Offer $37 Million forTua Tagovailoa’s Contract…

Tua Tagovailoa, the Miami Dolphins’ star quarterback, is eligible for a contract extension after another solid season, potentially resetting the market for quarterbacks. Despite this, the Dolphins are taking their time finalizing a lucrative long-term deal, though most believe it will eventually make Tagovailoa one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league.

The recent massive contract extension for Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions has added pressure on Miami to secure a deal, possibly surpassing Goff’s contract. However, Colin Cowherd of FOX Sports argues that Tagovailoa is not worth a record-breaking contract due to his history of injuries dating back to his college days at the University of Alabama. Cowherd suggests that $37 million per season should be the maximum the Dolphins should offer.

While Cowherd’s concerns about Tagovailoa’s injuries are valid, Tagovailoa’s performance justifies a significant contract. Last season, he played all 17 regular-season games, leading the Dolphins to 11 wins and securing a playoff spot. Although the Dolphins were eliminated in the first round by the eventual Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, Tagovailoa had an impressive season, throwing for a league-high 4,624 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions.

In summary, Tagovailoa’s impressive stats and leadership on the field indicate he deserves a lucrative contract, despite injury concerns. Cowherd’s suggestion of a $37 million cap might be cautious, but the Dolphins will likely need to offer more to retain their star quarterback and remain competitive.
