Dynamo Kyiv Handed Away Trip to Chernivtsi in Ukrainian Cup Semifinals

KYIV – The path to the 2026 Ukrainian Cup final has been cleared following the official semifinal draw held Thursday at the Football House. FC Dynamo Kyiv is set to travel west to face First League side FSC Bukovyna Chernivtsi, setting up a high-stakes encounter in April.

The Draw Results

The draw, which featured two representatives from the Premier League and two from the First League, produced the following matchups:

  • Bukovyna Chernivtsi vs. Dynamo Kyiv

  • Metalist 1925 Kharkiv vs. FC Chernihiv

As per competition regulations, the “White-Blues” will play as the visiting team. The semifinal stage consists of a single-leg knockout match. If the score remains level after 90 minutes, the winner will be decided immediately via a penalty shootout.

Match Schedule

While the exact kickoff time is yet to be finalized by the UAF, the base dates for the semifinals are confirmed for the window of April 21–23, 2026. Early reports indicate the match at Bukovyna Stadium is likely to take place on Wednesday, April 22.

A Familiar Rivalry

This fixture serves as a direct rematch of last season’s semifinal, where Dynamo Kyiv secured a convincing 4–1 victory over the Chernivtsi outfit. However, Bukovyna enters this year’s clash with significant momentum. Currently sitting 1st in the First League (Persha Liga), they reached this stage by pulling off a dramatic quarterfinal upset against LNZ Cherkasy, winning 5–4 on penalties.

Dynamo’s Road to the Semis

Ihor Kostiuk’s men have faced a rigorous path to reach the final four, including a statement 2–1 victory over arch-rivals Shakhtar Donetsk in the Round of 16. Most recently, they dispatched Inhulets Petrove 2–0 in the quarterfinals to keep their hopes of a domestic double alive.

“We respect every opponent, especially a team like Bukovyna who has shown they can compete with Premier League sides,” a club representative noted following the draw. “Our goal remains the same: bringing the trophy back to Kyiv.”

The winners of these two ties will advance to the Ukrainian Cup Final, scheduled to be held on May 20, 2026, where the newly designed “Cossack-inspired” trophy will be awarded for the first time.
