In a thrilling announcement sure to delight football fans nationwide, Netflix has officially begun production on a new documentary that will explore the rich legacy of the Pittsburgh Steelers, with a special focus on the Terry Bradshaw era and the dynasty that dominated the NFL during the 1970s.
Titled “Steel City Dynasty: The Rise of the Pittsburgh Steelers”, the upcoming series will take viewers deep inside one of the most iconic periods in NFL history — a golden era defined by four Super Bowl titles in six years, Hall of Fame talent, hard-nosed football, and a city whose identity was forever shaped by its beloved team.
At the heart of the story is Terry Bradshaw, the charismatic and often misunderstood quarterback who led the Steelers to glory. The documentary will chronicle his journey from a rocky start in Pittsburgh to becoming one of the league’s all-time greats and a cultural icon.
“This isn’t just a story about football,” said executive producer Ken Rodgers, who previously worked on NFL Films’ acclaimed America’s Game series. “It’s a story about grit, loyalty, perseverance — and how a team came to define an entire city. The Steelers of the ’70s changed the NFL, and we’re telling that story in a way it’s never been told before.”
The series will feature exclusive interviews with Bradshaw himself, as well as legendary teammates such as Franco Harris, Lynn Swann, “Mean” Joe Greene, Jack Lambert, and many more. Family members, coaches, journalists, and celebrity fans will also offer insight into the cultural impact the team had on the sport and the steel town they represented.
Using never-before-seen archival footage, intimate personal stories, and cinematic recreations, Steel City Dynasty will dive into everything from the tense quarterback controversies, to Chuck Noll’s steady leadership, to the unforgettable moments that made the Steelers a dynasty.
Netflix has not yet announced a specific release date but confirmed the series will debut in early 2026, just in time to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Pittsburgh’s first Super Bowl win in 1975.
With the Steelers’ loyal fan base — known as one of the most passionate in all of sports — already buzzing, this documentary promises to be a must-watch for football fans, history buffs, and anyone who loves a true underdog-to-legend story.
