In a significant move shaking up the NFL landscape, the Los Angeles Rams have acquired wide receiver Kayshon Boutte from the New England Patriots in exchange for a third-round draft pick. The Rams have subsequently signed Boutte to a three-year contract valued at $75 million.
Boutte, who joined the Patriots as a sixth-round pick in 2023, emerged as a standout performer in the 2024 season. He led the Patriots’ wide receiver corps in snaps over several games, notably recording seven receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown against the Buffalo Bills in Week 18 before exiting due to a head injury.
The Rams’ decision to acquire Boutte aligns with their recent announcement to seek a trade for veteran wide receiver Cooper Kupp. Kupp, a Super Bowl champion and 2021 Offensive Player of the Year, expressed his disagreement with the team’s decision but acknowledged the business nature of the sport.
Boutte’s addition is expected to bolster the Rams’ offense, providing quarterback Matthew Stafford with a dynamic target. The Rams anticipate that Boutte’s youth and recent performance will seamlessly integrate into their offensive strategies, aiming to enhance their competitiveness in the upcoming season.
