Breaking News Nick Saban Gratefully Acknowledges His Fans for Their Support

The ESPN “College GameDay” crew previewed one of the most anticipated matchups of Week 6 in Berkeley, California, featuring the No. 8 Miami Hurricanes facing off against the California Golden Bears. The atmosphere was electric as California fans took over the “College GameDay” set, their enthusiastic chants surprising the panel with their energy. Kirk Herbstreit noted that fans began gathering as early as midnight, hours ahead of the show’s start.

As the panel discussed the Week 6 schedule, Cal supporters started a chant directed at Nick Saban, yelling, “Take it off!” While Saban’s red tie may represent the Alabama Crimson Tide to him, it was interpreted by the Golden Bears as a nod to their in-state rival, the Stanford Cardinals. Embracing the crowd’s energy, Saban stood up, turned toward the fans, and removed his tie. He later swapped it for a striped blue and gold tie, prompting cheers from the crowd and a “Saban” chant in his honor.

Rece Davis, the host of “College GameDay,” also joined in on the wardrobe changes. As the show kicked off, he sported a red tie, which led to the crowd immediately chanting, “Take it off.” In response, Davis made a quick decision, ripping off his red tie, waving it in the air, and donning a purple tie for the remainder of the broadcast.

The crew’s presence at the California vs. Miami game surprised many, as Davis revealed early in the show that they initially expected to be in Tallahassee for Florida State’s Week 6 matchup against the Clemson Tigers. However, the Seminoles’ disappointing season, currently at 1-4, resulted in the change of plans to California.
