After a stellar regular season and multiple Atlanta Braves players being nominated for the 2024 All-MLB Teams, longtime manager Brian Snitker finally addressed the media to express his thoughts on the recognition of his players.
The Braves, one of the most dominant teams in the league this season, have five players nominated for the prestigious All-MLB Teams, including three pitchers and two position players. The players on the ballot are pitchers Chris Sale, Reynaldo López, and Raisel Iglesias, along with designated hitter Marcell Ozuna and first baseman Matt Olson.
Snitker, known for his steady leadership and player-first mentality, has largely let the success of his players speak for itself this season. However, following the announcement of the nominations, he finally took the opportunity to reflect on their achievements.
“I couldn’t be prouder of this group,” Snitker said in his first comments since the announcement. “These guys have worked incredibly hard, and it’s gratifying to see them get the recognition they deserve. Whether it’s Sale and López anchoring the rotation, Iglesias shutting the door in the ninth, or Ozuna and Olson driving the offense, it’s been a total team effort all year.”
Snitker, who has been at the helm of the Braves since 2016, has guided Atlanta to several playoff appearances and a World Series title, but he emphasized how meaningful it is to see so many players nominated for individual honors.
“These nominations reflect not only their individual talent but also the character and work ethic of this entire clubhouse,” Snitker continued. “Everyone who steps out on that field is playing for each other, and that’s why we’ve been successful.”
The nominations have placed a spotlight on some of the most critical contributors to the Braves’ success in 2024. Chris Sale, in his first year with the team, is a leading candidate for the National League Cy Young Award and has been a key figure in the Braves’ rotation. López, who made a successful transition back to full-time starting duties, has been a revelation, while Iglesias has been lights-out as one of the best closers in baseball.
