“Congratulations to Derrick on a Hall of Fame career. Not only was he a phenomenal player, which I saw reflected in the eyes of his opponents, but he’s also an even better person, teammate, husband, and father,” Thibodeau wrote.

“The true measure of a man is how he handles adversity, and nobody did it better than Derrick. From the pressure of playing in his hometown, to being the youngest MVP in NBA history, to enduring injuries in three consecutive seasons, he never wavered. He stood tall, remained resilient, and always found a way to bounce back.

During his illustrious career, Derrick Rose achieved a number of remarkable milestones. He was named Rookie of the Year in 2008-09, won the league MVP in 2010-11, was selected to the All-NBA First Team (2010-11), and earned three All-Star appearances (2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12).

Despite facing numerous injuries, Rose fought his way back to become a key contributor for several teams, including the New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons, and Memphis Grizzlies, in addition to his original team, the Chicago Bulls.
